Last year, the LCD
Team began a monthly giving as a way to contribute to our community. Little did
we realize how rewarding participating in each of these causes would be, so
when the decision came to continue it was a yes all-around for 2018. What
better way to kick off the new year of giving's than a roundup of last year's
monthly opportunities. Scroll below to see how the LCD Team gave back
to our community in 2017.
JANUARY
The LCD Team participated
in Burlington Coat Factory’s 10th year anniversary of “Give a Coat,Share the Warmth” by donating coats at the Del Amo Mall location and were able
to help people in our community stay warm.
FEBRUARY
The LCD Team gathered towels and blankets for the animals at the Harbor Animal Care Center in San Pedro. The shelter is close to our hearts as this is where our office mascot, Blueberry, was rescued from.
MARCH
The
LCD Team assisted Rainbow Services, in San Pedro, by helping to fill their
pantry with canned goods for families in effort to attain violence-free lives. Beautiful
artwork by the families is displayed in the Rainbow Services office in Downtown
San Pedro.
APRIL
The
LCD Team helped transplant seedlings and prepare native plants at the PalosVerdes Peninsula Land Conservancy’s native plant nursery in San Pedro. The LCD
Team was impressed by the size and scale of the facility and the care they put
into preserving locally native plants.
MAY
The
LCD Team donated household items to the Palos Verdes Resale Thrift Shop. This
benefited local charities including the Pediatric Therapy Network in Torrance.
JUNE
The
LCD Team donated books to the Malaga Cove Library. These donations help the
library to raise funds to purchase new books as well as recycle the items to
others for their enjoyment and benefit.
JULY
The
LCD Team signed up to participate in Heal the Bay’s Nothin’ but Sand Beach
Cleanup in Redondo Beach. Nothin’ but Sand is a great way to support our local
beach and help create a clean and safe environment for all.
AUGUST
The
LCD Team signed up to volunteer with Ride to Fly. A nonprofit organization that
creates a safe, nurturing environment for therapeutic horseback riding and
learning experiences for children and adults with disabilities. Due to the
heat, the volunteer day was canceled, but we hope to volunteer with them in 2018!
SEPTEMBER
The
LCD Team donated beds, towels, food and more to all animals affected by
Hurricane Harvey via Lightopia and the San Antonio Humane Society.
OCTOBER
The LCD Team had a great time volunteering at
the LBHOA sponsored Lunada Bay’s Annual Harvest Festival. We helped with
setting up, serving refreshments and cleaning up after the fall festivities.
What a fun event for the community.
NOVEMBER
The
LCD Team, in partnership with Xerox Community Involvement Program (XCIP), helped build a home with Habitat for Humanity in Long Beach.
DECEMBER
The
LCD Team, in support of the Torrance Salvation Army, helped fulfill Christmas
wishes of children in need through the Salvation Army Angel Tree program. We
hope they liked their presents!
