Building a Home with Habitat for Humanity

For our November Giving, LCD, in partnership with Xerox Community Involvement Program (XCIP), got the opportunity to help build a home with Habitat for Humanity in Long Beach! Habitat for Humanity's goal is to eliminate poverty by providing houses throughout the world – starting in our own backyard. The homes are built by volunteers and the families who will live in them. This is a symbol of hope in the community and a tangible sign that the differences which divide us can be overcome when people choose to work together. The LCD Team helped bring the project one step closer to completion by painting siding and installing insulation and drywall.

The LCD Team had a wonderful time volunteering with
Habitat for Humanity & the Xerox Community Involvement Program (XCIP)!

When we arrived to the site, we were excited to see what stage the construction of the homes were at. We found at they were at the end of the framing stage! To see what the project would look like once complete, the Habitat for Humanity team had on site a color rendering of the end result. We know the families will love them!

Chelcie & Lauren take a picture before being assigned
their job for the day! Safety goggles required.

Each volunteer is encouraged to write a note on the framing of the home to leave a footprint of the hard work and love that was put into it. The Habitat for Humanity team says the families can truly feel the love behind the walls and are forever grateful to all the volunteers.

Thank you to Xerox Community Involvement Program for including us on their build day!
