Smeg 50s Retro Refrigerator-Freezer From WestEdge Design Fair 2014

Last but not least, the final product we want to share with you from the WestEdge Design Fair 2014 is the smeg coloured 50s retro refrigerator-freezer model! The smeg display stood out amongst the other appliance displays that flooded the Bakar Hangar. Not only did they have one, but they had two displays! One, shown below, focused solely on the Retro Style Refrigerator-Freezers, and the other focused on all other smeg appliances such as ovens, coffee machines, cookers, and more.

With the attention to detail these retro style appliances are more than function pieces, but more of a decorative element for your kitchen that have truly become iconic. Cerno Lighting From WestEdge Design Fair 2014

The fourth series of products we want to share with you from the WestEdge Design Fair are Cerno’s  LED lighting fixtures. Cerno was created by three best friends in 2009 and they have been making a statement in the design industry with their innovative modern light fixtures and furniture. Their design esthetic is to fuse quality, performance and resource efficiency with modern design.

Cerno won the lighting award at the WestEdge Design Fair and we can see why! They're modern take on mixing wood and metal into their lighting fixtures is incredible. Not to mention they created an art light that does not limit the light exposure to just the top of an art piece but evenly distributes light onto the entire piece of artwork. See below for some of the work we spotted at the design fair by Cerno.

This pendant would be a dynamic piece in any room!

 

The Forma floor lamp, their most

traditional fixture, features brushed

aluminum, oiled walnut,

and a burlap shade.

You can see the significant difference in the Revelite’s

revolutionary lighting technology and how it evenly i

lluminates the entire surface of the painting. This is a

great item for us to find because our client’s love using

art lights to illuminate the art in their home.

EIS Studio Designs From WestEdge Design Fair 2014

The third product on our list to share with you from our visit to the West Edge Design Fair is the EIS Studio Pebble! These pebbles are organically-shaped seating sculptures that act as both furniture and art. Such a great idea! They come in four different materials including: wood; cast stone; fabric; and fiberglass.  They are offered in many shapes, sizes, colors, and customized options are available as well. So if there is a certain pebble material you love, such as wood, but want a different shape, EIS can do it! Look below for these wonderful pebbles we discovered at the trade show.   

Display: EIS Studio did a great job by not only displaying their pebbles inside the showroom, but also placing them at the entrance building visitor’s curiosity. And the EIS Studio display inside was perfectly set up on a patch of grass as if the pebbles were placed in your backyard.

 

Here are the pebbles arranged in the front check in entrance of the

design fair patiently waiting for visitors to sit down, relax, chat,

and gather their materials from the show.

The wood pebblito, grey fiberglass, and white cast stone pebbles

displayed inside the EIS Studio booth. This mix of materials and

colors pair well and would go great in your backyard!

 

 

David Trubridge Designs From WestEdge Design Fair 2014

The second set of products we want to introduce you to that we fell in love with at the WestEdge Design Fair, are the lighting fixtures by David Trubridge. The David Trubridge display was the first presentation we saw stepping into The Barkar Hangar that quickly caught our eye! The glowing lights hanging at different lengths from the ceiling looked like a magical rainforest, bright in color and form. David Trubridge designs are inspired by what he finds in nature, which is no surprise since the company is based in New Zealand, Aotearoa, in the South Pacific, where nature is all around. He then develops forms to communicate and to tell a story of what he sees in the mountains and in the wilderness. Through the design process they try to be as caring and sensitive to the environment as possible, which translates into their designs. Not only do they have lighting, but they also have furniture, jewelry, fabric, rugs, and even postcards. Get ready to see the brilliant lighting fixtures displayed at the WestEdge Design Fair below! 

Display: The David Trubridge display was full of color and form. The wide open space welcomed visitors to walk through and interact with the light fixtures up close.  

Lighting: The David Trubridge company brings unique shapes and colors into each design like nothing we’ve ever seen before!

 

The pure white circular shaped light is called the Coral.

Each connecting piece connects together making

coral like design that is inspired by the many coral

structures David has seen when snorkeling over reefs. 

The mushroom shaped light is called Beau and would

look lovely in a child’s room or nursery!

 

The tear drop shaped light is called Belle. This charming light

would go perfectly over your dining room table

extending at different lengths.  

 

This light is called the Hush Acoustic Light and is

made out of 65% postconsumer recycled material. This light

also acts as a “cone of silence” creating an intimate zone when

standing or sitting underneath. This light installation would go great

in a modern library or in an office quiet work room.

Elish Warlop Designs From WestEdge Design Fair 2014

The first set of products from WestEdge Design Fair we want to share with you are Elish Warlop’s gorgeous lighting fixtures and walnut window shade!  We had the pleasure of speaking with Elish at the show about her designs and we couldn’t turn away from them!  We admired the detail that goes into each one, so unique and lovely to look at. Each design is more than a light or window shade, each design is a piece of artwork in its own, and can be displayed wherever you wish for art or function. The light fixtures would go great mounted on your living room, dining room, or bedroom wall. While the walnut window shade would go great in front of any window, of course, or you can use it as a room divider in an open floor plan or studio to create division. Take a look at the products from Elish Warlop’s collection she had on display below.  

 

Display: The EW display was simplicity at its best.  White painted walls with no distractions to take away from each design that shined on its own.

Lighting: Elish brings both aspects of great design and light together as one, creating magnificent light fixtures.

The three  ring Hoop Shade was inspired by the construction and

dynamic motion hoop skirts from the early 1900s. This shade will

add a feminine touch to any room!

 

The brass Electric Macaroni Light is LED lit and is

connected by a cloth cord that allows each

brass tube to be adjusted to your liking.

 

Furniture: Elish’s furniture designs play with the manipulation of materials by folding, curving, and connecting into functional pieces of art.



 

 

The Walnut Window Shades give a flat pattern form that

can hide and reveal what is behind them by rotating each bar. 

Elish mentioned that she can use any type of wood on request,

depending on what a client is looking for

WestEdge Design Fair 2014

It's always inspiring to attend design fairs, and the WestEdge Design Fair was no exception.  It was held at The Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, which is known as a leading venue for charity, corporate and private events. The turnout was fantastic! Exhibitors had exquisite spaces set up showcasing their new designs and were always willing to help and answer any questions.
